Welcome to the 2017 edition of Manufacturing Today …
Greater Waterbury's 21st Century Manufacturing Resource Guide!

The Waterbury Regional Chamber's Manufacturing Council and the Republican-American produce this special annual supplement as an educational and public awareness resource. We’re proud to help readers learn more about our region’s manufacturing industry through this publication. Hundreds of manufacturers in Greater Waterbury are thriving, and while they may not be the household names the past large-scale plants were, they employ thousands of people.

In the pages that follow you will discover the diversity of manufacturing in Greater Waterbury, and learn about some familiar companies, including Hubbard-Hall and MacDermid Performance Solutions in Waterbury, and UniMetal Surface Finishing in Naugatuck and Thomaston. You will also learn that a record number of women are enrolled in Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing program, and about the ongoing efforts of the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT).

The Manufacturing Council thanks our partners in this publication, The Smaller Manufacturers Association of Connecticut and CCAT, for their commitment to supporting manufacturing. We recognize the need to educate the community about manufacturing in the 21st Century to help address the lack of young people interested in careers in the industry, which continues to grow and provide outstanding career opportunities.

Included in this publication are lists of the manufacturing members of the Waterbury Regional Chamber and the SMA. Many of these companies have been Chamber members for decades, as well as long-term SMA members. They are an important part of our community’s history and continue to play a major role in the economic vitality of Greater Waterbury.

On behalf of the Waterbury Regional Chamber, we extend our gratitude to the Republican-American and our contributing writers for their efforts. Finally, we’re also grateful to our advertisers, who make Manufacturing Today possible.
